We are coming into the colder months which is often the time when many of us get sick. I'm not trying to declare sickness on anyone, matter fact: Im rebuking it! At the same time, I'm simply stating a common trend. Even though this is common, there are ways that we can minimize our chances of getting sick. In this blog, I'm going to focus on nutrition and different foods we can incorporate into our diet to boost our immunity.
Yogurt
Yogurt is yummy in my opinion! It is also a great source of Vitamin D which helps boost our body's natural defenses against diseases.
Citrus Fruits
These fruits are filled with Vitamin C which is thought to increase the formation of white blood cells. Even if you do get ill, you can consume a bunch of oranges and that will likely shorten the time of your illness. It works for me normally. You'll have to try it! Here's a small list of some citrus fruits you should try:
Oranges
Lemons
Grapefruit
Limes
Leafy Greens
Green vegetables ensure that immune cells in the gut function properly. Next time you go to the grocery store grab some avocado, peas, asparagus, broccoli, and kale.
Olive Oil
Olive oil is a healthy fat source that is mostly used in the Mediterranean diet. It activates the body's defense structure. It can kill or inhibit certain bacteria in your body.
Chicken
Poultry is high in vitamin B6. Whenever you get sick, you likely reach for the chicken noodle soup. Not only does it taste good but it may also help lower inflammation in your body. Vitamin B6 is vital to the formation of new healthy red blood cells so technically it's icing your body a slight reboot.
