Healthy Mind, Healthy Body: The Power of Positive Habits

The 21/90 rule states that it takes 21 days to make a habit and 90 days to make it a permanent lifestyle change. So, commit to your goal for 21 days and it will become a habit. Many of us, especially women, often have a weight loss goal. Even though this is a great goal, I would challenge you to take a step back and create a more holistic health goal. For example, try new varieties of exercises, limit and permanently stop vices, or eat healthy meals regularly, etc. Making weight loss the main goal can have detrimental effects on your mindset, beliefs, and habits. As a nutrition coach, I am not telling you to avoid setting weight loss as your goal. I am trying to encourage you to have a more holistic approach to your health to create a more sustainable lifestyle. Perhaps you need to start with your changing your mindset and your body will also reap the benefits.

Here are some things you can do to have a healthy mind:

  1. Read books or articles

  2. Prayer

  3. Write in a journal

  4. Manage stress

  5. Learn something new

  6. Getting enough sleep

  7. Foster Creativity

  8. Follow a Healthy Diet

Undoubtedly, the mind and body have a profound connection. The real question for you is: "What are you willing to add or subtract to your life to strengthen your mind-body connection?"
